Around the NFL Week 17

Ratings started leveling off and declining before the kneeling controversy. If anyone has any hard data showing it’s a significant factor in the ratings I’d love to see it. And no, your uncle saying F the league is not legit data.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

I have never seen any hard data on the kneeling issue. I have the eyeball test and when a handful of friends (casual and die hard) said "F" the NFL. I am not saying it is 50% percent of people but it's more than anyone wants to advertise. We can say it is a nonissue and gloss over it, but that's not true.

Jim Schwartz is heading to NY. This is a great move. It hurts the Eagles and makes NY a permanent 500 team. Jim Schwartz is a great defensive coordinator but average head coach.

No, he is the first coach being interviewed due to the bi week the eagles have.

I know he is only a candidate at this point but that would mean Spagnuole would be looking for a job.

Just saying . . .

I'm going to channel SolidSnake here and throw out some theories. Cooley has mentioned that our personnel fits a 4-3 base better than a 3-4. Spagnuole is really good 4-3 coordinator. Cooley and Portis have probably already talked this over with Dan over drinks.

I'm pretty sure Schwartz interviewing with NYG means Spagnuolo is going to be our DC next year.

SS, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

So, here's where Giants are right now. GM Dave Gettleman will not replace Marc Ross (who he fired) and will run draft and FA himself. 3 sources confirm Josh McDaniels & Matt Patricia are favorites with Bill O'Brien if fired. All 3 sources downplayed Jim Schwartz as candidate.

........and then to clarify.

Just to be clear: Not saying Jim Schwartz won't get interviewed this week with Eagles on the bye. Would give Gettleman a chance to pick his brain on Eagles & Giants & NFC East, an old Al Davis trick. But if he's Giants coach, it means a handful of others turned it down.

@Giantone - you have always been a reasonable opponent. Beating a divisional team is always nice. Congrats.

Note - I was dead wrong when I said even the Skins couldn't pull off this L. Never sell our loserness short.

All is good, sometimes there are years like this.
