Basically I'm asking if this could have any impact on the rest of our spending in 2018?
I see. Yeah Norwell getting that amount probably is a benchmark for Scherff. Norwell was 1st team All Pro last year, Scherff hasn't accomplished that yet. But suffice it to say Scherff will still be deserving of a contract in that general vicinity. Maybe $12M per season, maybe $13M. But whatever, pretty close.

2018 is the last year of Scherff's deal, but we can and probably will exercise his option for 2019. That means we'll need to get him under long term contract by 2020. The team has roughly $100M in cap space in 2020, so we can certainly afford it.

So all that said, no I do not think the Redskins will put the brakes on their free agent spending over the course of the next 3 weeks because they need to be sure they have room to pay Scherff. It's clear the team is in bargain hunting mode now, after having signed Richardson. So any player they get from between now and the draft is not likely to be a high dollar signing - I think they'll get maybe one or two mid tier guys and then a few bargain basement signings. Nothing that would restrict them from locking up Scherff.

Ok good deal, thanks for the info. I think we will sigh at least 2 more starters , DRC and hopefully POE. That way we can get a G and RB early.
