Re: Giants Postgame
As far as Alex Smith I think the most important stat is the fact the Redskins have had more points than the other team 5 times and less points than the other team only two times so far this year. I will take 200 yards passing and a win over 350 yards passing and a loss any time.

That’s because of our defense and running game. Alex Smith has little to do with our record. If we want to be a contender our QB is gonna have to play at a high level at some point and air it out to win gun fights. We saw what happened the last two times we got into a shoot out (Saints and Colts). Smith couldn’t keep up. Our offense is one dimensional, and eventually it will be a problem. But like you said, one dimensional offense absolutely will not cut it, we need balance to win. Now that the team has confidence and is coming together with an identity....ill keep an open mind that this will get better. BUT, keep AP fresh is crucial to this second half planning, Id like to see Alex shoulder the load just from that perspective...Maybe get Bibbs more work as well. |

I think we all agree that the offense needs a bit more oomph to it, but it's also fair to say that we haven't had our full/best offensive unit out there yet. Maybe we won't this year. And it's silly to knock the quarterback of a 5-2 team, especially when - it's his first year in the offense, he has a history of winning, he has had limited practice with the best offensive weapons due to their injuries, and he has held every lead the offense has had. |

I strongly disagree... Smith is a game manager...and he is contributing to the team's wins this season...he's not passing for a lot of yards a game but he doesn't have to....that's the beauty of ball control rushing and having a very good defense....this was the same formula for winning ball games in the early mid 1980s with Joe Theismann and that superb defense we had back then when Riggins was bull dozing over defenses....in those two games the Redskins were bested by the Colts and Saints it was the defense who had no answers in both of those games...and that wasn't on Alex Smith.

In the NO game no doubt about it the pass defense was exposed by what some would say is very good first ballot HOF QB. Despite that the Skins offense would drive down the field but have to settle for field goals. In the first quarter they were swapping TDs for FGs and you cannot win that way. |
