It’s simple. The offense with a decimated line, loss of McVay, Jordan Reed out, Chris a Thompson out, Doctson out, NO running game, and a defense that couldn’t stay on the field but still operated at a high level last year.

Smith has all of this back this year minus McVay, and can’t perform.

What can’t everyone see about this?????

Our defense and AP are the reason we’re at 6-3. Smith has very little to do with that

With our defense and AP Id Be willing to bet we’d prob still be at 6-3 with McCoy, maybe even 7-2 as McCoy could have won the gun fight with the Colts.

Yeah? And Smith has been benched or replaced by rookies his entire career, and moved to 3 different teams for a reason...have you noticed the improved performance of the offenses he was replaced in??

Reid fleeced us again. He’s brilliant with quarterbacks and got Smith to look a LOT better than he really is.

When in all reality Kirk had 20 turnovers damn near and as much as I liked the guy he padded most of those stats in late game situations. Yes he's the better passer but who is the better decision maker?

He led the league in lost fumbles last year and they seem to come at the most inopportune time.

That is what kills me, the team is 6-3 and a 2 game lead on the division which NOBODY saw coming, and we are talking about a QB change.

Kaepernick in San Francisco regressed quickly after the season where he replaced Smith and was out of the NFL before he hit 30. Even in his magical season he replaced Smith he did most of his damage with his running. Many QBs regress after their first full season as defenses slowly expose their weaknesses. There is no guarantee that won't happen with Mahomes.

I think Mahomes is very good but his system is also VERY QB friendly, the one thing he has is a great arm and he's accurate. So I think he'll be good for years. But u are right, this happens so much. I drank the RG3 Kool-aid as most here did and look what happened.

Hi, Beek! Big fan, first time contributor. Do you think Matt Ryan is the QB to get us over the hump? Despite always being paid as an elite QB, he always crumbles when put to the test. Occasionally he'll sparkle here and there, but he doesn't have the IT factor. It's even laughable when backups, second- and third-tier QBs, especially from AFC teams come to our home turf and beat us. Also, aside from Aaron Rodgers, he's winless against good QBs like Tom Brady and Ben Rothlisberger. Don't you think the over-a-decade experiment should come to an end?
