It was the same score. Confirmed that by looking it up. Pretty creepy. Not sure about the 40 yard line.

It was Joe Thiesman-ish. This is not a 6 month and back to the NFL injury. He can come back but it will take more time.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.

How do the salary cap numbers work if he stays out an extended amount of time versus retiring?

Im curious too. I have a feeling that either way his contract is gonna fuck us for a few years.

I don't think so, I read Joe's book but it has been a long while. He had a press conference 4 days after surgery and he vowed to come back for the 1986 season. It was only when he had to work out for Lloyd's of London that summer, that it hit him that he was done. He said that he was doing fine, sprinting and running and throwing, but it wasn't until he had to roll to the left that the injury showed itself. His right leg had healed shorter than the left due to the injury and the surgery, so he said he looked like chester from gun smoke. 8 months to the day that L.T. broke his leg, he failed his physical and that was it.

Training camp is 9 months away, he could be back by then if all goes well with his surgery and rehab.

Yeah i'm not seeing anybody call it a six month injury presently. Everyone so far from Sportswriters to casual observers are saying that most likely the redskins have to be ready to spend the beginning part of next season without Alex, if he can make it back.

I wish him the best too, but like somebody else said, do you roll the dice on a 35 year old guy coming off a horrifying leg injury? Maybe Alex will be totally fine and we are all worried over nothing.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.

One of his big strengths is mobility... Sucks for Alex, I really like the leader he is. Maybe this team can rally like philly did last yr?

The thing is, if his salary counts against the cap, he may be the best option we can afford if only as backup QB going forward.

Re: ALEX SMITH and moving forward.

If the skins are intelligent, they should use this injury to move on from smith...

You do realize there’s some serious cap implications to deal with

That would be if everything went perfectly. It usually takes about six months just for the bone to heal completely before you even begin to work the legs. The older you are, the longer it takes to heal. If he comes back at all, it's likely he won't be starting the season. And if he does come back, how effective can he really be? He was already struggling. It's good for the franchise to start talking about how to move forward.

If he can play after this, he deserves to be on the team at least. I agree tho, I would draft a QB round 1 now.
