Re: Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020
Re Alex Smith, if his salary is part of the gaurantee then doesn't that leave our cap if he is traded so we would only be hit by the bonus he has received so far.... apologies if I have misunderstood your post, genuine question just trying to understand the mechanics of the salary cap

But for all practical purposes, who would ever pay $16M for one season of Alex Smith at this point, given what he's trying to come back from? Too many questions about his mobility. Teams might take him on with an incentive laden deal structure, but nobody's paying $16M guaranteed. So I see us as stuck with him.

Yeah that is a great point about Smith, I am sitting on the fence regarding Kerrigan, if we sign him to a new deal for 2-3 years then we should be able to save a little, no?

Re: Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020
Yes that seems plausible. There would be a lot of ways to extend him and get the cap number down in 2020.

$7 million is too much for Flowers. And trade Kerrigan if you can.

Isn’t Ruben Foster due for a contract year? Or is it next year?

Re: Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020
I think we have to decide this year whether to pick up his 5th year option, as with Johnathan Allen, but we have him on his rookie deal for one more year at least..... as with all of these scenarios its going to be up to Riverboat Ron

I would rather pay $7 million for Flowers than $14 million for Scherff. Change my mind.

Re: Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020
I agree. Flowers was solid this year and the left side of the line is extremely important since we have a second year QB. We're already unsure about the LT position. Flowers might not be worth $7 million around the league, but he's worth $7 million to us.

Re: Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020
No way, Flowers is good and needs to show consistency for more than 1 year, Scherff is great who despite not having an elite year made the pro-bowl. I want a great team, not mediocre, sick of those type of teams.
