He drafted Mark Rypien, Gary Clark, Ricky Sanders to name a few. I think Art Monk arrived in 1980, so even though Gibbs didn't draft him, we know how much Art Monk was used. Right! And out of all those names, Darrell Green played (and I think started eventually) in his rookie season and played for 20 years.

I think he got a good mix from both free agency and the draft. So, I don't think your impression was totally wrong. He got Riggo, Joey T., Sanders, Butz, and Jacoby from free agency and others through the draft.
