Re: Coronavirus (sports edition) thread

Anybody else want to claim the vaccination is killing more people than the virus? There are plenty of badges of idiocy.

I'm not buying that it is killing people. However if you felt as bad as I did you may have a different opinion.

Well if I felt as bad as you did, AND I were a complete moron, then I might think it could kill me. Otherwise, no, I couldn't have that opinion.

Like, didn't we all take biology in high school? Did we not pay attention? Or was my public education in the suburbs of PA just better than everyone else's?

I'm trying to reconcile how anybody can not understand what an immune response, how it feels, etc. I can't wrap my head around it. I was taught these things in high school. Wasn't everybody? I just don't get it.

For those who didn't pay attention, or didn't take the class, or whatever...

When you get a vaccine, any vaccine, your body responds as your t cells recognize the shot as a foreign invader. Your lymphatic system (lymph nodes) beefs up production of b cells and t cells in response to the introduction of the vaccine, because your body thinks it has an invader on its hands. That response can make you feel crappy, because it's essentially your body reacting the same way as it would towards the actual illness. It causes inflammation in the lymph nodes, you get achy, the inflammation causes headaches and other aches, etc. But you're not actually infected with the virus. Your body eventually realizes that and chills out. Hence the reason why the crappy feeling only lasts 24 hours.

Having been introduced to that foreign invader, your t cells retain a "memory" (really it's an organic chemical imprint) of what that foreign invader looks like, so that next time it sees it, it will destroy it on sight before the virus has a chance to replicate throughout your body, and you get seriously infected.

I really don't understand why that's not well understood at this point. We should be a pretty advanced society.

It is understood by me. I get how the immune system works. And as I said I do not believe getting the shot is killing people. However, I am still very apprehensive about getting it again. I had shortness of breath, a nasty cough, cold sweats and was shivering while dripping w/ sweat for 5 days. Sorry but you can throw all the biology and t cell bullshit out the window when you feel like absolute dog shit.

That's an emotional reaction. The smart thing to do is not to throw that "bullshit" out the window, it's to take the vaccine again when it's time, deal with the shitty feeling you got from it, and live comfortably ever after knowing that the real virus won't put your ass in the hospital or six feet under.

And I know you understand, I'm not speaking to you per se. I'm laying this out for some dumbass who may be reading this, with no understanding how this works.

Well yeah of course it is part emotional. I can say I still do not feel 100% when it comes to my cardio so not sure about living 100% comfortably.

The second dose of the vaccine kicked my ass for about a day and a half, but I was fine after that (I'm 42). However, I take this anytime over any respiratory issues that could happen because of COVID.

I'm asthmatic and and pneumonia in two separate occasions in 2019, which left me bedridden for several weeks. So I could not risk getting COVID and did everything to avoid it when it started.

Felt terrible after second dose, but not NEARLY as terrible as those I know that had the virus. And I am alive. No comparison.

As for name calling in this thread, well when people are risking our livelihood because of misinformation that has zero basis in fact and spreading it on the internet… talking life and death here …well name calling seems extremely insignificant in comparison.
