Defensive ends do that all the time. Especially if they are athletic enough, and he is.

I know they do, but I hadn't seen CY do it and he looked lost in the one play that stuck out.

I get it - you want to show different looks - but I know the play you are referring to - Allen completed the pass to the receiver next to Young - and Young looked like he had no idea what was going on. It's ok to put a DE in coverage - if he knows how to cover.
