Wow, Lavar overrated, you could not be more off base. You want the one most overrated player in the league right now? Brian Urlacher. Lavar goes into that situation with a stable coaching staff and defenseive coordinator, he has ever bit as much hype as Urlacher. There is one thing that Urlacher has though, he is white, and he plays middle linebacker, and there are too many similarities to Dick Butkus, he is all media overhype and Lavar is definitely the superior player

I couldn't agree more, but for once I didn't have the b@lls to say it. I was going to put Urlacher, but I try to base things on stats and his are usually phenomenal. However, I think he gets a lot of hype because of the color of his skin. Much like Jeremy Shockey who even has the NY media driving him. Shockey is a lot like Jason Sehorn. A little above average everywhere else, but in NY he becomes the best in the league.

I agree that Shockey is among the overrated, and Tomlinson and Harrison fall in the underrated category. Some others:

Underrated:

Derrick Mason
Hines Ward
Fred Taylor (been hard to depend on him healthwise, but when he's healthy he's great)

Overrated:

Jake Plummer: I just don't see it
Mike Alstott: Don't see it there either

And I won't say LaVar but I will say Samuels. He has a world of talent but I don't think he's lived up to it since his rookie year

I was curious what has lavar done to be considered a top LB?

I wonder if you have actually seen Urlacher play? the guy can play, big time, I would also like to know what is so stable about chicago?

up until now Urlacher has out performed Lavar.......

and nobody is trying to build up Lavar as the second coming of LT?

Overrrated= McNabb (I believe the success he has had the past three years minus last one was due to the domination of the Eagles D.

Underrated= Brady/McNair (The best QBs in the game right now)

Overpaid= Arrington (Anyone making that kind of money had better be the best at his position and a great leader. He's lacking on the latter)

Let me start be saying Urlacher is a very good player. But he is only the second best MLB.
I have seen Urlacher play.....I remember a particular game fondly, because I was watching it with my friends and I was arguing with one of my buddies about who is better Ray Lewis or Urlacher. I was saying Lewis is better and Urlacher overated because he is white.
A few plays later the argument died down and we are all suddenly watching closely (Buffalo Bills vs. Chicago Bears game two years ago).
Suddenly we all see Bills OG Rueben Brown pick up off the ground and move Urlacher (by the shoulder pads) out of the way like he was a little kid. The friend I was arguing with, a huge Bears and Urlacher fan was embarrased, as the network kept showing the replay over and over again.
I can tell you Lavar can make stupid mistakes and get blocked out of a play, but I have never seen an offensive lineman pick him up and move him ouf the way like this.
Urlacher needs to put on about 10-15 pounds of muscle in order to be the best MLB in the league.

I agree with you on the fact that he's not the best MLB, no argument there, my point was he is good, and not just white, I do agree last year wasen't his best, but the previous year's he was real good, and very true a MLB need's player's in front of him to be all they can be, but I think that goes for just about any MLB, comparing him to lewis in a way is a compliment for Uralcher, if as many do consider lewis, 1 of the great MLB's of all time, as for Lavar, he misses way to many tackles, and is blocked to easily when rushing the passer, the only time he did anything significant was under lewis when he had 11 sack's, and even then he was not playing LB, he was playing D-end, Lavar has all the physical tool's, and the personality to go with it, and I believe the NFL is trying to capatalize on it, but I don't believe he has earned his rep. with his play.

I could not agree more. Urlacher is the most overated and over hyped in the NFL. He did great when he had two monster probowl DT's Teddy Washington and Keith Traylor, in front of him to protect him. Last year when Teddy Washington was gone Urlacher did not do as well. Now that they lost Traylor this offseason, he will be worse. MLB Ray Lewis overcame losing DT's Sam Adams and Tony Siragusa and still played at a high level.
