But all those things you mention are still more sporadic than not. They also require a lot of services (cops) to be diverted.

The Super Dome has not economically boosted New Orleans. SoFi is not going to make much difference in LA. They are great places to play and the Super Dome, in walking distance to the pleasures of the French Quarter, is great for SBs.

There are already a plethora of convention centers and convert venues in this area. Only a few performers would justify using a dome and the Stones are getting long in the tooth.

Now as Sunnyside said, a stadium can sometimes be an economic boon if, like Nationals Park, it helps promote new development. Something on the RFK site might promote that.

Nah, I mean I can't speak for everybody but it's a fairly common arrangement around here for cops to work OT security details (that the requesting venue pays for) at grocery stores/stadiums/etc. - all those cops you see working at Fedex on gamedays are probably all getting OT that's paid for by the WFT/league - there is no way in hell a department would shift most of its' resources to working a game and leave coverage thin everywhere else.

They should pay for it. It is the least they can do. NFL stadiums are the poster boy for corporate welfare.

Sports Stadiums are really not revenue sources for municipalities. If they were, Maryland, Virginia, and DC would be lining up to pay for Snyder's new place and the locals would be cheering it on. This is clearly not the case.

IMHO Dan should take a page from Cook and offer to pay for the whole thing himself. It would be yet another opportunity for him to rehabilitate his heavily damaged image.

He can't. A good deal of the WFT wealth evaluation is in the Stadium and property itself. Think of it as your own home. There is value in it as long as it's in a desirable location and is in good shape. If it isn't, you can still sell it but you won't get top dollar for it and that is one of the big problems for Snyder. The other is the lease deal that JKC made with Maryland , if they leave before it's paid they must pay back all the infrastructure money the State of Maryland spent ,roads ,new exits on the Beltway and a walk to train station will cost the team plenty, I think there are 5 years left on the deal(not sure). A new state of the Art place like in LA will cost 3-4 billion and Snyder doesn't have it. He's wealthy don't get me wrong but he can't swing that.

Not in Uniform, two different things. Sitting off duty in your car at a Mall(just an example) is one thing .Fully dressed on game day with guns and all they have to be on duty. Now can they work game security not in uniform absolutely and many do.

Prince William and Fairfax County both offer OT opportunities where you're in uniform with a patrol car - Wegmans is a prime example. Wouldn't be surprised if MoCo is the same way - a lot of agencies around here share resources and work together.

I'm telling you there's absolutely no way Montgomery County PD is paying the dime for 100+ officers to stand around at Fedex Field for 4+ hours on gameday - the team is paying for that.

It's PG County but I 'm basing my statement on a friend who was a NJ State Trooper and would work the Meadowlands.

Thanks for the correction - not sure why I thought it was MoCo. Every state is different, and even counties can do things differently. With the budget issues PGC has I don't see them spending that kind of money on gamedays.

I used to work part time for an event management team. Putting on races part of the expenditures was paying the jurisdiction for the necessary street closures and other need services EMT etc.

You are correct. I was talking to someone who directs a race near Hagerstown MD and they told me the police who directed traffic at intersections and other spots on the race route were getting $80 per hours. I was stunned, that's a lot of money to stand around or sit in their car. They have now rerouted the course to minimize/eliminate the need for these police and save a lot of $. Most runners think they are volunteers and that's the farthest thing from the truth.

I would hope not. FedEx is in PG County.
