From all accounts he was a super nice guy and very down to earth, he even coached little league baseball.

My Brother had a run in(good one) with him after a he played at a club in NJ in the late 70's .So my brother was a roadie for a small local band back then and they all went to see this guy call "meatloaf" and a small club and the band got introduced to him said he was real nice. They are over to the side of the stage and there was a problem with an amp and my brother fixed it. It's the end of the night and they are closing up as they were all going home "Meat" asked if there was any place to get something to eat, so my brother took him another guy and one of his band friends to a New Jersey open all night Diner ,said they had a great time then dropped back at the Hotel. Yes he paid for the Diner.
