Re: Welcome Carson Wentz

Interesting take from JP:

@JPFinlayNBCS
Wentz threw for 3500 yards on 63 percent passing last year, 27 TDs vs just 7 INTs. Stats look good. But my biggest concern is Indy just traded for him, and now they trade him without a clear upgrade. Something doesnt add up

While he flashed the occasional brilliant throw down the stretch, more often than not, he was inaccurate, showed a lack of pocket poise, and was turnover prone—often holding the football for far too entirely long. He needs to start playing with confidence/decisiveness again, regain his lost mechanics and erase acquired bad habits, and start checking down to his underneath routes (*hitting his crossing routes consistently also wouldn’t hurt*).

I read a good article a few months ago re Colts coaching staff being fed up with Wentz. That the game plan was for him to make quicker decisions, taking what the D gave him, utilize the run and he did do that in the middle part of the season and the staff was relieved but then he started going back to bad habits of holding the ball

----

Our entire offensive strategy is crossing routes and designed check downs.

Guess we get to see if that is Turner's philosophy or just the way he had to call games given the QB limitations.

I believe he is also a horrible locker room guy

I will now go to my phone and see the one million text of friends and families making fun of me for being a Commanders fan.

Throw in the cost too. They were a quarter away from making the playoffs with him and it only took two third round picks?

Not excited by the move. Obviously a talent upgrade. His paycheck is questionable but not extreme. IDK very indifferent overall just a basic whelmed.

Yeah, but I rather have a bridge QB I could get rid of a year from now, than committing two or three years to Winston/Mariota/Trubisky.

Also, there's going to be competition for those guys, and they will all get overpaid.

That is a fair point

Exactly!!!why would his long time coach drop him despite his 27 7 stats after 1 year?

Keep hearing folks say the shocking part from the Colts' end is Frank Reich signing off on the trade one year after pushing for Wentz when it seems apparent Reich was open to running it back. The owner and others were done with the QB
