He's being subpoenaed, he (or his PR team) knows the "rich guy running away on his yacht" narrative is not one that'll help his case in the long run... He had to make something to look a tad bit better. The "I'm willing to take time to testify while mourning my mother at the other end of the world" card is not a stupid one to play.
But all this tells me is he's feeling some heat.

I was thinking the same. I love the "he is Offering to testify crap", he is under a subpoena .

Based on what I've been seeing in various news stories, subpoenas don't mean much anymore.
