Oh 100 percent. He forces it. But usually a TE is sort of a safety blanket and with Taylors limited arm I just feel like him and LT should have a better connection.

Re: Texans Pre-Game Thread

Speaking of TE’s, I want to see Turner use Rogers more. That kid is a stud, he can pretty much do it all (blocking is a work in progress, whiffed on MNF).

That's mainly because you're just trying to get out of Buffalo right now! haha

Probably because LT and the other TEs are being used primarily as blockers vs running routes

Re: Texans Pre-Game Thread

Only saw 1st half of Texans-Eagles MNF game so i dont know much about them

record 1-7-1 with W vs Jags in a 13-6 win.

Offensively:

Scored 20 pts 3 times, 24 once .. rest is below 20

Last 3 games they played NYG tough last week (24-16), Phi (29-17 tied at half), Titans (17-10).

QB Davis Mills has started every game, has 1,975 yds through 9 games. 11 tds, 9 int, 23 sacks.

RB Dameaon Pierce (rookie 4R - Florida) seems to be the offensive feature, 165 carries 772 yds 4.7 avg. Know nothing about him but 4.7 when teams know you are going to run ball and cant throw? impressive

Gibson/Robinson combine for 196 carries, 677 yds and a 3.4 ish avg

Texans 28th in yds/g w 301.2
Manders 24th w 324.1

Texans 27th in pts/g w 16.6
Manders 23rd w 19.1

----------------------------------

I havent looked at their D yet ... but their offensive numbers mirror ours. Mills rating is within a pt of Wentz/heinike, all 3 have 62% completion

Im a bit worried.

We are going to play a team that does the same things we do.

I gotta look at the D ... but the over/under on this game must be like 29.5

Re: Texans Pre-Game Thread

"The Texans’ first-half strategies in the passing game led by second-year quarterback Davis Mills have become an issue for Houston in the Texans’ last three losses to the Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants. Mills has averaged 4.7 yards passing in the first half of the last three games and has been held to under 40 yards in the first and second quarters in two of those contests (Titans-17, Giants-35). "

Houston’s defense has given up 93 first-half points in nine games, averaging 10.3 points per game. They have held opponents to 14 points or less in eight of those games, but during those first nine contests, the Texans’ offense has only been able to score 73 points which is good for an average of just over eight points per game.

Inefficient first halves plague Texans with Davis Mills under center (usatoday.com)

Apparently the Texans are a slow bad 1st half team ... take the under first half might be the play

Re: Texans Pre-Game Thread

I know the Texans aren't good. But I will be impressed if we win. Coming off a big win, on a short week, against a bad team. That has the potential to be a complete letdown game. It would be a good sign for the growth of the team if they take care of business.

Have we ever played a home game on a short week?

Just noticed McKissic is questionable. Would be awesome if he came back.

Re: Texans Pre-Game Thread

McK and Holcomb both DNP on Wed.

What is this Holcomb injury (foot sprain)? I dont remember him leaving a game and figured this would be a one week thing .. Holcomb was just starting to elevate his game to a solid starter level. I was starting to think we didnt need to add a starting MLB in the offseason with his play.

Could it be a liz franc .. or a season ending injury they are being optimistic about? Injury just isnt responding?

Holcomb at practice today, but I doubt he plays this week after being out so long. Wonder if Curl will remain the green dot guy when Holcomb does come back, defence has been playing well since he took over

Heineke fire won't let the offense down (every game could be your last), and Kerrigan coaching the DL won't let the defense down. They're both high motor. We've played the #1 and #7 pass defense teams as well as the Vikings and Eagles in the last 4 games.

Life will be a hell of a lot easier this week.
