I'm a little bit leery of signing Payne to multi years contract since he blew up in the contract year, plus there are some reports stating that Payne doesn't interact much with rest of the Dline players. I think I would prefer for us to tag him 1 or 2 times then let him go.

Tagging him once is the way to go. Leary of the 2nd tag though. Gets more expensive and never gets us anywhere.

I think getting 6 years of solid to very good play is a worthy investment of a 1st round pick. If we can't extend him, I'd let him walk after this year, with a hearty handshake on the way out.
