I wonder if this means signing Chase’s 5th year option is less likely. We have a lot of $ tied up in this line.

Thats a bigger deal than I would have expected, would almost certainly signal the end of one of Sweat or Young. Good thing to get it done before the other FA DTs get their new deals though.

On the plus side, as the first year cap hit is usually engineered to be less than half the APY of the contract we should get an extra $8-10m in cap space aswell

But none on an OLinemen or QB, which is the beauty of maybe signing Sweat and Chase. Most teams have their money invested on both DL and OL. I would now cut Thomas and Roullier.
