Hadn't crossed my mind before you mentioned it. Harris can simply keep Rivera as HC, but strip him of any GM jobs he has and hire a real GM now. He wouldn't even have to fire anyone yet, because we don't have an official General Manager. He can simply create the position now, hire someone, then fire the rest of the people after the year. Mayhew holds the official title of GM. So they would have to fire him and strip Rivera of any personnel responsibilities (or just fire him too).
