Result no matter what happens in the offseason, I don't see us being competitive next year.
Cosmi, Robinson both under "very good" or at least "good" I would say, handful of promising young safeties. Bottom line is when you, or at least I, think of cornerstone building blocks I think of QB, LT, Pass Rusher, MLB and CB. We have none of those, everyone else, including your WR and x2 DT are expendable/replaceable. None of them are consistent game changers that the other team sets out to scheme for. Thats what 4 years of safe position flex picks gets you. I looked at our depth on paper the other day, we litterally have 1 LB on the roster, who is incidentally under legal scrutiny. this is going to take a couple of years and a huge amount of great coaching to fix properly.

I'd tack S to that list and I'd say Kam Curl could be a top player with the right coaching and scheme. I'm betting if Peters can't get a deal done beforehand, he gets tagged.

Tagging Curl would cost like 18 mil. That would be a terrible move.

There's no pending FA on this team who is a Franchise Tag candidate.

I like what Jeremy Reaves was saying on Twitter - he was basically saying the lack of big plays from Curl was because they had him playing like 5 different positions (fuckin' position flex lol). Said he hasn't played pure safety since his rookie season (aka his best season statistically).

I think given the lack of big plays we can keep Curl on a decent deal and hopefully the new coaches will stop doing that position flex bs and let our studs focus on being elite at one position.

I understand why coaches do it - if you have injuries it gives you flexibility to move players around, but I think it hampers certain players when you ask them to play multiple positions in the same year.

Re: 2023 NFL Post-Season Thread

Put Curl a FS or SS, not some bullshit position Rivera/JDR created. Hey just play everywhere and be good, is dumb. Unless you're elite as fuck. And even then, that's more of a college thing.

Curl is good. Hopefully we can re-sign him and let him play a real safety position. And I've never heard 1 thing remotely negative about him. He can be our defensive McLaurin.

He isn't a FS, his best spot is more than likely SS

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

I'd take Curl back on a "decent deal". I'm just not interested in tagging him. That would be irresponsible. He's not a $17-$18 mil/year safety.
