Portis's Mother Throws Blows at Game

After having a beer dumped on her by an Egles fan, Clinton Portis mother, Rhonnel launched into her attacker and got in a couple of blows before peace was restored. Clinton said that'll teach you to go messing with her. I just thought this was great how she stood her ground and was wondering if anyone here had any problems.

One classless person interacting with another. Having to put up with idiots that scream, yell, and throw stuff because they think it somehow helps the team, or makes them feel like part of the team is the reason why going to games is becoming less and less fun for me.

Are you saying she was classless for responding?

Yeah - I'm not sure her response qualifies as "classless", especially since it's an older lady we're talking about.

I'm saying she was classless for punching the other person. She should have called an usher or a security guard and had the beer-thrower removed from the stadium.

That wouldn't have happened unless the usher had seen it, and if they had seen it there would be no reason to call them.

I think the fact that Clinton scored a TD moments later was the best revenge.

Your right about how she should have responded, but I don't think calling her classless for defending her self is totaly fair.

How many championships does your team have? You're a second-rate organization with third-rate fans. You had your run of a few years and couldn't get it done. Philadelphia choke-artists.

Maybe she should have apologized for being in the way of the flying beer and offered to purchase the thrower another. Hell, she's probably got money, she can afford new clothes anyway.

It probably wasn't the fault of the beer-thrower anyway. I'd imagine he was abused as a child and suffers from some learning disabilities or emotional problems. I think it was horribly insensitive of Clinton Portis' mom to show up wearing Redskins colors and upset this troubled beer-thrower.

What the hell is wrong with you people??! Whatever happened to defending oneself or one's family??? Bunch of damned pussys.

Like the other sensible posters said, KUDOS to Mrs. Portis for standing up for herself.

Give me a break. The ushers in Philly are almost as bad as the fans. Good for the lady for giving to the clown who threw something.

There are reasons that place is known as classless, and it has a lot to do with the total disregard by Eagles management to make a real effort to ensure saftey at the games, every place has it's nonesense, but if you think someone is coming to throw out an Eagle fan, because a redskin fan said they threw a beer on them, your sadley mistaken, I say swing away!

I understand taking the "high road" but it's quite easy to make a judgement about the situation when you weren't there. Apparently she did find a security guard or usher since she was ushered down to the sidelines. Myself, I'm not a violent person and I have only gotten into maybe two fights in my life (of course I won both) but I would stand up for my mother she had beer thrown on her.

Re: Potis's Mother Throws Blows at Game

Nothing wrong with defending yourself and for the most part the Eagles fans are classless, rude and confrontational and deserve to be put in their place. I read about the '04 incident in the paper where an Eagles fan punched a girl. It is unbelievable to me. I was raised never to hit a woman. The Philly women have mouths worse then the men and some of them I believe deserve a punch but I wouldn't do it.

Just one comment though. Do you think being Portis' mom that she knew she could get away with it because she would recieve special treatment? I mean it's standard practice at any facility that if there's a confrontation between an opposing fan and a hometeam fan that the opposing fan gets thrown out whether they started it or are simply defending themselves.
