If he's as good as they say then let's take him if he falls in our lap. Maybe the 2nd wide receiver position isnt really a big deal after all. Remember Saunder's can be very creative with tight ends.

Re: Leonard Pope - TE out of Georgia
he's a solid pick, but squarely behind davis, and behind lewis on most boards and fasano on a lot of others. I'd say he's the #2 TE in the draft, an only because the #1 is absolutely insane.

Re: Leonard Pope - TE out of Georgia
This TE class is unbelievabley deep. We could put all the TE prospects Names in a hat and easily pick an above average prospect. Popes a good prospect and I would welcome him to the Redskins. However lets not forget, hes no Vernon Davis then again, not many are to begin with.

Re: Leonard Pope - TE out of Georgia
I think the team may be seriously looking at Pope. Here's why:
1) They really didn't make much of an attempt to keep Royal around. This tells me that they had an improvement in mind, and I don't think that was Fauria. 2) Jason Dunn, who played for Al Saunders in KC is the perfect blocking TE for a Joe Gibbs offense. He could be aquired relatively cheap (6th rounder should do it). To date, I haven't heard as much as a rumor linking the teams. I don't think this is because the Skins lack interest in him, but I don't think they will even consider trading for him until after the draft, because of interest in a guy like Fasano or Pope. 3) Fauria's contract is less than 20% signing boni, meaning he could be cut with a very small cap hit on the eve of the season. |

Re: Leonard Pope - TE out of Georgia
Since the Skins already have Cooley (no matter how we use him) and spending money on a FA TE, I don't think the Skins need to spend our only !st day pick on a TE.. Now I also live in the ATL, and I'm a Gator. This guy killed us when we played him. Got the best of everyone really, not to mention was a big time target in the Bulldogs' pass offense. Still as we see the slight stagnant period of FA, and the fact that we need players to still fill positions right away, the best available player aspect goes out the window because their will be many players available for our slotted position needs(Not to mention no 1st rounder,so have to stick to plan). Now if Joe wants to go ahead and spend it on Pope, I'll shake my head a bit.. alot.. but hey, read the bottom line down there!!!!

Re: Leonard Pope - TE out of Georgia
Yeah, I have to say that after last year I will not immediately tear down anything Joe Gibbs does, anymore. Last year I went after him for starting Brunell and drafting Rogers. Ya know what? I was wrong. Joe was right. Big surprise, huh? That's why I'm the fan and he's the coach. While I do judge the moves, I give Gibbs/Williams/Saunders the chance to show me that they are right before I lay into them. They've earned the benefit of the doubt.
