TMC,

No harm done. Just was stating my reasoning for why Cooley was left off the list. Hope you enjoy visiting the site and make it a habit during Fantasy Football season.

Re: Fantasy Top 100

BBFF, are these rankings based off of a particular point system?

Re: Fantasy Top 100

724 Skins,

Four of our writers did what they feel are there top 100 rankings as of May,2006. Then we took each draft position and divided it by 4 to come up with the Average rankings for each player based on the writers Top 100's.

For example, Larry Johnson was ranked 1,1,2,3 by the 4 writers for a total score of 7. 7 divided by 4 equals 1.75. So the Average ranking position for Larry Johnson was 1.75, which placed him in a tie with Shaun Alexander.

Hope this helps clarify the rankings for you.

Re: Fantasy Top 100

Sort of. The way I see it, a player's ranking reflects the value he will bring to a team. If you participate in a league where scoring is heavily dependent on yards and not receptions then a receivers value drops considerably. Also, most QB's do very well in leagues that award 6 points for passing TD's instead of 4 points so their value becomes diluted. In fact, in those leagues I usaully draft a QB after the fifth round.

I was just curious if the rankings reflect a cetain scoring system. To me LT and Alexander are equal unless receptions are given extra points. Since LT gets more receptions his value goes up in my opinion. I, also, use the "3 three year rule", Instead of going by a players stats from last year I see what he averages over the past three and then add to my decision making other factors like scheduling, injuries, news & notes that might affect their playing time.

As you can see, I like to talk about fantasy football as well. Welcome!

724 Skins,

The scoring system we use for all of our rankings is 4 pts for TD passes, 6 pts. for TD rushes and catches, 1 point per every 10 yards receiving and rushing. Also, 1 point per every 25 yards passing.

With LJ, LT and Alexander you can't go wrong with who you take at the top. All 3 players are going to be very close on overall points scored in 2006.

Glad you like to talk Fantasy Football, its a great conversation starter for sports fanatics like ourselves.

I know their o-line sucks, but if they can just buy a few seconds the Cards could put up big numbers.

Also, this sounds kind of dumb after the way last year ended, but does anyone else think that #2 overall seems a bit high for Larry Johnson? KC lost their OC (thank God, HTTR), and their stud fullback. Granted, Johnson has proved he is a machine and definatly worth a top ten pick, but I would have reservations taking him with the second overall pick.
Absolutely valid. Their Oline does suck, but so does Indy's, and that turned out pretty well.

I think bush wont be as high as you have ranked him, plus santana is a bit underrated in fantasy production, even though he will have many other options surrounding him. By the way, you can put your link and your little message as your signature, so you dont have to retype it again and again.

Re: Fantasy Top 100

Are Big Ben's numbers really going to be high enough to not include Brunell on the list??? There is no way that Pitt is going to pass more than we are next year, they like to keep the pass attempts low, and not long completions. They like to run in the redzone as well. I bet my bottom dollar that Brunell's numbers, fantasywise, will be much superior to that of Big Ben's (injury pending).

No, I dont think that LJ at #2 overall is a bit high or over rated for that matter. I understand that he lost his OC and Fullback, but the guy is good and the most important IMO is that he will still be running behind that same o-line. To me the o-line is just as important when you start looking at RB's for fantasy football. I mean, Bush is a talented RB, but do you honestly think that he is gonna run for like 1500 yards and 10 tds behind that piss poor Saints o-line? I dont. Also look at a back like Willie Parker for the Steelers, IMO he would not be as good on a team that had an average o-line. And I really dont think that KC will totally revamp there O in one season... But that is what makes fantasy so fun everyone has an opinion and you watch the season to see how close you were...

I dont understand why you think that Indy's o-line sucks? They only gave up 17 sacks, and Edge did gain 1500 yards running behind them.

Re: Fantasy Top 100

Redskins,

Indy's O-line was solid all year in 2005. 17 sacks, and we all know Manning isn't one of the most mobile QBs in the NFL. I like Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes to continue solid production with the running game. Will they be "edge" of course not, but they will both be solid backs in a split role. It looks like the Colts are going to open up the passing game more, and it sure has me thinking that this offense won't miss a beat.
