Re: Why The Bengals Won't Have a Good 12th Man
Okay, when we start saying that the only way to gain home-field advantage is to imitate the eagles, well I gotta say something.
I have been to every home game for the last three years. After each of those games my voice is gone. While I am not the model of decorum, I am acutely aware that people do bring their kids to these games. You can be loud and proud without being a boorish thug. Many times I have opposing fans near me. Most of the times loud, obnoxious taunting follows (pre-Gibbs I was mostly the recipient). Again, generally, it doesn't involve vulgarity. Home field advantage is about making noise. That noise need not be vulgar. And sorry, I will never attempt to physically intimidate opposing fans - It's unneccessary, it's illegal, it's bully behavior and it's something I don't want my son to ever emulate.

I think thugish, boorish behavior is acceptable. And if people bring their kids to an outdoor sporting event like football, well they do so at their own parental risk. |
