During preseason I don't care if the team wins or loses. I look for the first team offense to move the chains in the few drives they play, QB look comfortable and in sink with wr, look for the protection of the line and see if they can open holes, if the wr are getting separation.

In case of the D even if they don't blitz a lot try to see the coverage, speed and control on the line.

But specially I try to see the younger guys see if anyone shows something that can contribute to the season more than just practice squad, and if there seems to be any problems get to them before the season starts.

That was me. I agree with your assessment. Obviously, from reading the posts by Redskin fans after last week's preseason game, we are all concerned...a little, but it really is about evaluating young talent and getting back into "football shape".
