Re: Is Duckett's presence going to piss off CP??

Clinton's first year with Gibbs he was used as a battering ram - Riggins style. Clinton was vocal about that really being his style as his body type wasn't built for that. The next year Clinton added pounds to take the pounding resulting in good success. This year under Saunders offense Cinton has shed those extra pounds back to where his "natural" playing weight is.

If you ask him does he want someone else in there busting up the middle on 3rd and 1 or 3rd and goal, I think you'll get an affirmative answer on that. TJ's role will only help lengthen his durability and career.

I've moved into "very supportive" viewpoint of this trade over the last 24 hours.

Malcom, I think T.J could handle the Vikes as well, but so much for Clinton's 2000 yard season. My guess is that he is really limited this year, unless that shoulder gets healthy in a hurry. What would be great is that he starts on Monday night, but only gets 15 carries and T.J. "spells" him often.

Re: Is Duckett's presence going to piss off CP??

this will be a very good thing regardless of whether CP is ready for the opener. i feel confident that TJ can handle the load if he ends up sitting out. i'd rather him sit out the first week or 2 than reaggravate it and have it either keep him out or nag him the entire season.

and if they both play it keeps them both fresher until the playoffs come.

another thing is... to be honest i dont care about either betts or cartwright. i understand they both have important special teams roles but i feel we have the talent to make up for that. if one of them has to go, so be it.

I dont think we have to worry about Portis being pissed off. He knows he is the man and he is going to get the bulk of the carries if he is healthy enough. If you remember he lobbied Snyder to go out and get Edge when he was a free agent. Portis (to our benefit) is more concerned with winning that individual stats. The only ones that will have issues with this is Betts (because he isn't as good as he thinks) Rock and Sellers. Nemo, CYA!! nice knowing ya! The only person we need to worry about is Portis and he welcomes anything brought to this team that will win games.

Its kinda sad to see these pro athletes to travel so much but the days of franchise players like Ripken or R.Lewis who mean so much to the town and club they are cemented there forever seem to be gone. However, this is a business and even civilians face this day to day.

The Defense I know will appreciate it so they dont have to worry about that matchup later in the season against Atl. This move will keep the Offense on the field longer or may backfire and well score 80 yd TD on the first play giving the Defense no rest. Those guys Im sure may have formed a bond with Betts(assuming he's traded) but would rather have a trophy and ring over a couple year bond.

I hope Portis can understand the bigger picture here to get to the super bowl but he seems like the type of territorial player that this is going to be a problem for his ego. With Betts Portis knew who was the Boss, but TJ is a grown man also who was picked before him in the draft so I hope there isnt any Alpha male issues yet to unfold. Portis has to know he will be our #1 guy and co-face of the team for years, but nowdays players can have such hissy fits to want to up and leave. CP said earlier he wants to be done by the 3rd qtr laughing on the sideline. This move seems he may just get that often. Its a bad vibe of chemistry I am hoping will swing positive.

Do you guys think Duckett's arrival will disrupt or be a problem for Portis ????
Portis is all football. He wants that ring and I think he knows that this addition to the Skins will help get it. I don't think he'll be upset by it at all once he sees how much help it will be to him - meaning he's not having to push to to the goal line after he has made big runs to get us there.

If Portis wasnt hurt at all or if it was something that is not as serious as a dislocated sholder then by all means let him play against Minnisota. But being that Portis is hurt and it is a dislocated shoulder then I think that we should hold Portis out week 1 and play him week 2. No need to have Portis hurt against a team that we should be able to beat anyways...

I forgot all about that Falcons game against the Skins in 2003. Duckett was a madman in that game. I remember thinking then what a freak he was, nobody that big should be able to move like that.

I'd rather have a fresh and dangerous Portis at the end of the season and through the playoffs rather than a broken down Portis like last year.

If that means he runs for 1200 or 1300 yards vs. 1500 yards so be it.

Re: Is Duckett's presence going to piss off CP??

Duckett will probably be used on short yardage situations... how about a "wishbone" formation inside the 5: Duckett, Sellers, and Rock lined up behind Brunell, any one of them is an outstanding lead blocker, followed by another lead blocker followed by a runner who if hit can still make it across the goal line from the 5.

LOL I totally had that figure!

You could push his head down and push a button on the back to make him jump. He was built like a brick shithouse that's for sure.

Not to hijack yet ANOTHER thread, but do you remember all those specialty He-Man figures back in the day? Like Moss Man who smelled like moss, and all of Hordak's crew?

Damn, they don't make toys like that anymore.
