Re: Poor Ramsey, Backup again!

I was never a band wagoner for Ramsey but I do recognize that he could have been a good QB In this league if he had a chance to drop and pass the ball with some protection. He's just so immobile that the quality of his arm and accuracy could never be fully utilized. I think Spurrier's retarded blocking schemes combined with the immobility have basically ruined him. He could have been a decent starter is allowed to develop properly. C'est la Vie.

Given his current skill set, I've always thought the Raiders would have been a good fit for him. I think he and Al D. will still meet up in Silver and Black.

Why is it always Spurriers fault that Ramsey can't win a starting job. I remember reading that in college Ramsey took a beating as QB coming out of Tolane. If he can't get past the Spurrier years how can he make it in the NFL. Alot of other QB's have taken a beating and had great careers in the NFL. Aikman to name one took a ton of hits his first two seasons and the skins dished out alot of them.

Yeah I think that 'Spurrier ruined him' excuse is quickly losing any real merit. Like you said, he took a beating in college too. Taking a beating doesn't excuse the same mistakes he keeps making.

Holding onto the ball way too long and not having an accurate deep ball are his hallmarks, not a result of any offenses he's played in.
