I think you're right on target with that assessment. Don't expect to see much blitzing in this first preseason game, and maybe not much throughout the rest of the preseason, as Williams stated he wants to see what the young players can do in a vanilla defense. But Williams will most certainly rely heavily on the blitz, at least in the early going of the regular season, and will continue to do so unless it proves to be counterproductive. His defense is designed to generate constant pressure with the blitz, while placing a premium on man coverage skills behind the blitz. He's made no secret that will be the case, and that the strategy will be executed from a variety of packages and looks to disguise the angle of the blitz and the coverage.

like i said in another post, unless we get a nice surprise in our Dline, we're gonna be spending all our time on defense hoping either Marcus or LaVar gets there in time, or hope Sean Taylor saves our bacon if they don't. our corners are good, but not as good as last year (Springs: STAY HEALTHY), and aging Mike Barrow is gonna have to bring his A game spying the Tight End AND Running Back. it's all a little nervous.

i hate to say it (again), but i hope getting Brunell instead of an elite pass rusher on our Dline doesn't become The Great One Joe Gibbs' first mistake.

A thought concerning the pass rush from the D-line... If we start out blitzing Lavar and Washington a lot like Williams seems to be planning to do, couldn't that open things up for the linemen so we could see them actually get more pressure/sacks than expected, since the offense would have to account for the LB's?
