i wish we hadn't mis-used the preseason and didn't get off to such a slow start. our defense (esp. the secondary) is still a disappointment, but they played better this week.

We need springs back though, and we probably need to draft or sign a couple DBs (good safety depth, and a decent starting CB with speed). Will peterson (giant, IR'd this year) will be available... vet min safeties are available every offseason, and i'm sorry we let go of stoutmire and bowen, cause they're much better than curry burns, vernon fox, or reed doughty right now.

that said, this slump took 2 hours to break, which is 4 minutes longer than last years. brunell did everything he needed to do, and while he wasn't bombs away, he did a lot more than just dump offs and he was able to score at will and win the game.

I don't think brunell can play without portis though. he gets real jumpy... maybe going back to Betts's missed blocks in 2004 (sack, fumble, returned for TD, etc), maybe due to the third and longs he gets put in without portis's extra yards (betts just gives you what's there for the most part, no more, no less).
