Re: let's talk offensive line
The Dirtbags are really coming into their own right now, I believe in 4 games thats the 3rd time we've stopped an opponent from registering a sack, with only the 6 sack debacle in Dallas as the only poor day.

Re: let's talk offensive line
The key this week will be whether they can maintain that same type of intensity for the Giants. In particular, Samuels and Jansen -- if they can hold Usi and Strahan by themselves, that really opens up Saunders with his passing options.
By the way, I haven't really noticed, but Gibbs used to help out his offensive tackles with a tight end to get extra help on pass protection. Seems like Samuels and Jansen are one-on-one for just about every play. Am I right on that? Or has anyone else seen Saunders leave in extra guys for blocking? |

Re: let's talk offensive line
That was the best o-line performance by the skins in years. Just dominant. By the end, the Jags DID NOT WANT TO BE HIT! And that's a serious D line.
The pulling has been stellar. Seeing Samuels, Dock, Thomas, and Jansen come around the ends and just BURY people gets me pumped. Not to mention the excellent leads by Sellars, the great blocking by Cooley (kind of lost in his 70 yard day--that was one of his best days as a BLOCKER), and what can you say about CP? His block on Moss's first TD was the kind of thing that puts to rest any thoughts that CP is a me-guy, from the U, etc (not that folks here think that...). He dived head first into that DB and just smashed him. With sore shoulders no less. Man. Props to Buges for making it go, even when Saunders brought in some changes (though it really looks to me like in the last 2 games, we've gone back to a real GIBBS style--anyone else think that? All the counters, etc?). If this line keeps it up, we will go far.

Ummm.. I was talking about THIS game, my man. Note the "IF" in front of my last point. That is, of course, a big if. BUt these last two games have been encouraging, to say the least, meast.

Re: let's talk offensive line
wasn't it 2 weeks ago where everyone was wondering about buges and our line? what a difference a win against a quality team makes. i think Saunders was masterful with the play calling, helping the oline effort. but the dirt bags were magnificent yesterday. and my man portis is a hell of a football player. i don't think there isn't anyone he cant block

I agree. I still think thomas is the best, but man... what happened to dockery? after two terrible games, he's really turned it on... he's doing some harcore roadgrading.

It just depends on whether the OTs can hold their own. If not, saunders WILL throw in TE help, as evidenced by the 2005 Chiefs offense. |
