Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

The defense couldn't get them on the field and the O line couldn't give Brunell enough time to make throws. If he sees anyone within about 5 yards of him he's throwing off his back foot or running out of the pocket to throw it away. That and it seems like he only ever makes 2 reads.

Brunell doesn't scare any secondary, not even an inept Giants secondary that was close to league worst.

What does that tell anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together?

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

The Skins only threw deep once the entire game. That is against a highly suspect secondary.

So to me, the question is why not?

Do the coaches know #8 can't be counted on to make those plays any more or does #8 simply not count on himself to make the deep throws?

In an offense that puts on the field at the same time:

Portis
Moss
Cooley
REL
Lloyd

I can't for the life of me understand how no one is getting a mismatch and getting open to make a play.

Our pass protection (which is more than just the OLine) may not be the class of the NFC, but it is good enough to give enough time to make a throw.

So yeah, I think the problems with the O during games 1,2,& 5 have something to do with the play at QB. Even during the record setting performance in HOU, we saw the same lack of push downfield.

sucks to say, but Pierce. he'd always find a way through our offensive line and get at Portis before he could break any.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

Give the Giants credit they had 2 weeks to prepare for us and they got the job done. Its the curse of the meadowlands. They wanted it more. we really need Springs back so we can be more agressive on D. Maybe by some miracle he'll be back this week. The season isn't doomed yet but don't sleep on the Titans. They are a desperate team that hasn't won a game yet. It would be embarassing if we don't pull that one out. I truly believe if we play like we are capable we can go into indy and beat them and head into the bye week at 4-3 and have 2 weeks to prepare for Dallas. Schedule isn't easy so the skins gotta bring there A game every week.

Growing pains, I guess. Still a new system, and we really haven't got all the flexibility that this offesne will give us down the road. That being said, MB did NOT look good, and the o-line got bullied all game long. QBs have to make some plays when you're having trouble, and for us especially, the o-line has to be physical. Still, my guess is that down the road, Saunders will have a good feel for what to do with this group of players when they are struggling. I don't think he has that confidence yet.

Here's something to chew on (granted the numbers have changed since Sunday). And I know people will be saying "oh but that's 'cause Santana gets so many yards after the catch" To which I say, yeah but so what. Like Matty said a couple of weeks ago, it's not like Montana and Young were airing bombs to Jerry Rice. They were a lot of short to intermediary passes that put Rice in a position to be a playmaker and take off.

When Eli hit 2 deep passes...I was asking myself....Why Can't we ever take shots like that...... The Skins are 10 times as talented as the Gimps.... What's the weak link... answer that question?

well, Brunell tends to not throw long unless it's up against a sideline. think thats a fairly diplomatic way of stating that crummy fact.

Save you're type a few of us have been saying this for 2 years... but people are very satisfied with dinks and dunks... i know opposing defenses are...makes preparation alot easier...

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

Brunell is averaging more yards per attempt this year than either Peyton or Brady.

Re: What Is Wrong With The Offense?

Better yet, Brunell has three times as many losses this season as P. Manning and Brady combined.
