Re: Trading Down the 1st Rounder next year

Trading down is definitely the way to go; however, that is not the flashy move that will draw the press. It kills me how all the various analyst knock our team as the Superbowl Champions of the offseason, free-agency period. It also gets to me when knowledgeable fans of other teams use this knock on us, and there is no effective counter response, for it is true.

The irony is that the Redskins of the first Gibbs era, are the type of team like Patriots, Eagles, and Bears are now, solidly built through the draft, and blue-collar. The Snyderskins are all flash and no substance, the team is going to have chemistry and other problems until they finally get out of the offseason free-agent spending spree madness.

I am sure someone will point out that Jack Kent Cooke spent money, and yes he did, but he spent money to retain players, which is why those old Redskins teams were so good, they had a core of players who played there whole career in burgundy and gold. In my own opinion this is one of the BIG problems with the Skins, and it is not going to be fixed any time soon.
