He said afterward that he always goes by the chart. That seems like a Nixonian statement (Let me make this perfectly clear). I bet an earnest reporter could find a dozen instances when he's gone against the chart.

I don't buy the "if they had kicked they would have been sitting on the ball at the end" argument. If they had gone for one the Redskins might have gone for two after one of their scores and there are a million potential possibilities.
