Re: Give Props to Brunell
The funny thing is, not only did we win today, but we won against our arch rivals the Cowpukes...yet we still have people whinning like a bunch of cry babies. The team didn't play THAT good today...Brunell, Portis, OR the defense...but we won! Let's concentrate on the fact that WE FREAKIN' WON the ballgame.

We won, great. Brunell was solid, great. Are we going to need much more out of many of the players (including the QB) than they gave today in order to pile up some wins? Absolutely. We are aren't going to get breaks like we did today every week.

Re: Give Props to Brunell
people are just still pissed off cause this "superbowl contender" is still only 3-5 after stealing a win. this was the best overall effort this year, but we barely won, and our playoff hopes are still probably a pipe-dream since our fully healthy D still gave up 400 yards and we won't have tie breakers to get if we're tied in W-L records.
even with a win over dallas, the team is still a disappointment overall right now :/. |

Re: Give Props to Brunell
yeah I'm on cloud nine after the win... and if we're watching the season just for one game at a time, I'm content until next sunday... but I still WANT to believe we're gonna be better than last year... we went out and made all of these improvements and come out sucking balls... it sucks overall to be a skins fan this YEAR, and we're gonna have that sinking feeling even after a compelling win like this...
Jason Campbell is like death to some people. Everyone knows its an inevitability, but some of us will hang on to the life support machine even though the coma's irreversible and the brain's dead, and when you get that glimmer of brain activity you think, "this has got to be better than death, because its not death..." but you have no Idea what death will be like, except that it will happen. Coming out and asking opinions about brunell will bring about opinions about brunell... shoulda seen that coming... He did well today and bought a pass, but Im not convinced that will be a good thing for the future of the team...

Re: Give Props to Brunell
Okay, for the record, I thought Brunell played a good game today from what I saw. I'll finalize my statement after watching the rerun that should definitely be on NFLN. But one thing i noticed, was even with Moss out, he still didn't look Randle El's or Lloyd's way a lot. Lloyd only caught two passes for 22 yards and Randle El didn't even have a catch.

Re: Give Props to Brunell
I don't think Mark Brunell did a single thing in this game that 20 other QBs in the league couldn't do. He did enough for us to win, but in all honesty, the Cowboys gave us this game. TO's dropped deep bomb, they dropped two potential interceptions, and obviously the field goal.

But just speaking frankly, giving my opinion about Mark Brunell? He didn't lose it for us, so that's good. This thread has people saying he played like a pro bowler today. Um, no. But he didn't lose it. Average performance.

Re: Give Props to Brunell
I definately never meant to imply that Brunell is the long-term answer or played like Manning or Brady. All I meant to say was that Brunell played pretty well, particularly when you consider the total lack of a running game and Moss' absence. I started the thread to take note of Brunell's performance because he's been a whipping boy, rightly or wrongly, the past several weeks.

This was Dallas. Point blank. If that doesn't mean something to you and you want to complain because there was a bad snap, then you don't get it and you never will. |

He did what I didn't think he could do, Throw internediate routes decently. I was wary of a few oh his decisions but all in all we can lvie with him playing like that. I didn't feel all game like we were having to over come his deficiencies. He actually brought something to the table.

This thread was started with the purpose of giving props to Brunell. I'm of the opinion that he's not deserving of any significant props. He completed 60% of his passes and was very fortunate that two were not intercepted. He did make a couple impressive throws, one down the seam to Thrash, and the TD to Cooley. But his play overall was nothing that tons of other QBs in the league (like Damon Huard, Tony Romo, and Chad Pennington) couldn't do. It's very possible for people to enjoy the win and at the same time be realistic about isolating Brunell's performance within a great win, and calling a spade a spade. He did just enough for us to win today, with some help from some Cowboy defenders who dropped some INTs. But if I can comment, it will be a sad day when the Warpath stifles the opinions of others because they choose to examine Brunell in a manner that is not entirely positive in spite of a victory.

Brunell didn't play great yesterday, but I thought he played well enough and we saw him go down the middle of the field which we've all wanted all season. If someone wants to pick apart his performance in a rational manner that's perfectly fine with me. But for example when people are bashing him for the way he took a sack, that's just ridiculous to me. Or the botched shotgun snap which could have easily been a premature snap and not his fault. There are a few people right now that just have it out for him no matter what he does, and that's what I have a problem with. If someone hates the guy fine, but if someone can't get on board for one afternoon with a win like that, I'm sorry but their personal bias is clouding their vision as a Redskins fan and that's a shame. You win as a team and lose as one, I've never seen so much attention paid to one player before. |
