If JC was ready and looked good in practice he'd be playing. Gibbs says they are playing the QB that gives them the best chance to win and he does not think JC is that man. If Gibbs thought for a minute JC gave the team a better chance to win he'd play him but he doesnt so JC sits.

I dont know if JC is good or bad (I'm not watching practice) but Gibbs et al do watch and so far he has shown them he's not ready yet. Like I said, lots of less experienced QBs have shown enough to become starters ahead of shakey vets, JC aint one of them.

Gibbs obviously thought enough of Campbell to give up the picks to trade up for him. Coming out of college he was considered to be a bit of a project that could benefit by sitting a while, couple that with Gibbs' history of sticking with vets to the bitter end and bringing young QBs along slowly and it all makes logical sense if you ask me.

Gibbs is also the guy that said we scouted Desmond Howard and saw no flaws. College and pro are entirely different (as you well know) and because a player is highly regarded coming out of college is no guarantee he will work out in the pros.

Re: Did anyone See!

campbell wasn't that highly regarded

he javelined short/mid passes the way ramsey threw EVERYTHING... however, the touch on his deep balls was crazy good in college, and he's a little bit of a runner too.

In the meantime Gibbs loves vets and BL is a solid vet. I can see the skins getting BL.

Please share with us where you get your information about Jason Campbell not being ready to play. I'm only asking because I haven't see or heard it anywhere other than from people who don't know what they're talking about.

Re: Did anyone See!

gibbs has said time and time again that jason could start if needed and i'll take his word over IRISH any day. also jc is in his 6th offense in 6 years and gibbs wants to make sure that jc understands every nook and cranny of it before he throws him to the fire. right now i do believe that brunell gives us the best chance to win because he has somewhat of a 'hot hand'.
gibbs has named brunell the starter on the bases of he knows how he plays and reacts to situations. plus what matty said about gibbs staying with a qb to the end is soo true and this is no different.

anyway the point is that byron will not come here b/c of campbell. campbell has a leg up on any qb that washington would bring in just for the fact that he knows the offense. the only qb i could see washington bringing in would be trent green. i say that b/c his team is doing good without him and he and saunders know each other. maybe saunders would want him back?

I got my info from gibbs. I heard him say that MB gives the team the best chance to win. That means JC is not ready to play. The coaches of any team will never tell the whole truth because they dont want to tip their hand.

I don't want Leftwich. Not just because of Campbell either. Byron's a great athlete but he's fragile! He's ALWAYS getting hurt.

Gibbs has said he could start if given the week to be coached up. If something happens during the game then Collins will come in. Again it doesnt sound like somebody who's ready to play.

I find it really funny that MB and "hot hand" can even be mentioned in the same sentence.

Let's see...

We're finally ready to begin the Campbell era after YEARS of preparation and training for the day...and we bench Campbell for a veteran QB who doesn't know the system and can't complete a full season.

Campbell's confidence AND trusting of the coaching staff would be crushed, although he DOES seem like the kind of guy who would keep it to himself for the team's sake. Leftwich starts the season and gets hurt. Campbell replaces him...NOT as the QB of the future, but as the guy they don't really want to play (in his mind).

GREAT PLAN.

explained it earlier. he fades down the stretch. last year in the first 8 starts he had two 320+ passing games and 5 220+ passing games... the next 8 he never threw over 200 and was under 160 in 6 games.
