i hate these near-sighted, 'efficiency expert', bean-counters who just look at math and have never had first hand experience being in charge of so many people's lives. people like McNamara and Rumsfeld.

i think thats why i generally shudder at people who just go by things like 'stats'.
I think your taking me out of context... I'm not defended Rumsfeld in any way...

In-fact, I was just making a direct stab at alot of the recent (pull out of IRAQ now!) trend amoung popular opinion.

I think that we need to have a strategy other than cut and run, and I was calling popular opinion fickle because it is....

Thats why the supreme court is in for life, so pop. politics isn't involved... even though it tends to creep its way in there every so often.

oop sorry Rob, wasn't lumping you in with the bean-counters if you saw it that way.

i would directly disagree with you that the 'get out of iraq' feeling is RECENT. a full half of the country didn't want to go in in the first place, regardless of how our 'representatives' voted (thats why they're called flip floppers right?).

the whole doubt about WMDs, concern about lack of exit strategy, troop level controversy and benefits to the general war on terror is all at least as old as the war itself.

It's all good... But it looks like we agree to disagree.

While there was a great deal of people not wanting to go to war in the first place (me included) I think the trend to cut and run is fairly recent. There is a large amount of conservative folks who are even expressing faith in this strategy. That's kinda how I saw it, as a general solution, the idea to cut and run in the population as a whole is fairly recent.

I'm not saying there weren't those who thought it all along, but in terms of the entire population mood swing, I think the ideals behind policy in Iraq have shifted dramatically in the past 6 months.
