Maas is an idiot. The reason we have so many coaches with asst. head coach in the title is to keep the staff together. You can only sign an asst. coach from another team if you give the guy a promotion. So by naming all these guys "asst. head coach" you keep them in the fold since there really isn't a title between asst. head coach and head coach.
I don't think we have a problem with our chain of command, or our personnel. I think we have a problem of perception. 2 years ago we were a bad football team, and through 11 games last year we were a bad football team. We got hot at the end of the year, but in the playoffs we eked by the Bucs with the lowest total yardage for a playoff winner in NFL history. I think Gibbs was trying to address that with Saunders and it hasn't worked out as of yet, but it will. |
