A side note...I think Jason Campbell played more than well enough to have won us a ball game, but he has completely NO HELP from anybody else with the exception of Loyd, ARE, and Cooley.
sauners, playcalling, and defense have been blamed for weeks upon weeks. too badd lloyd couldn't have helped by catching the long bomb.

Let's try giving someone else with a proven system not designed in the 80s to have two years.
i think an awful lot of that was on brunell and his injuries at that point.

Again, I think A solid MLB leader would help a lot of things, especially the passion aspect

Whatever it is, it has to be internal. This team was so pumped for the season to begin. As soon as Portis got hurt and we signed Duckett it was down hill from there (emotionally). Wish I could have been in the locker room and heard the guys talking......

I can't blame saunders for this game at all, we moved the ball on offense, he dealt well with the cover 2. We only got like 3 possessions in the 2nd half, pathetic.

Re: Gibbs looks angry during press conference

That's what made me want to fucking puke yesterday. If ANYTHING, I wanted to see Campbell play, but NO, instead the defense lets them convert a zillion third and longs and never lets the offense see the field. I'd have rather them scored on a long play and just said fuck it.

Thats exactly what i said a couple of weeks ago, go with the new wr's and use same system. but a few people here, i will not mention any name, said basically that it wouldnt have worked either..

I think he is being forced to play conservative because Springs is the only guy that can cover and he's not 100 percent. Ditto Taylor. He looked like he had the flu or something today. I don't believe that the D-Line is the culprit. Otherwise they wouldn't be capable of goalline stands like they are. I think it's injuries, shoddy play at 2 or 3 critical positions, and scheme.

A typical example to demonstrate of what you speak was the 85 yd. drive in 14 plays that resulted in the TD that bounced off Galloway to Anthony Becht. The only time on that drive we played any D. at all was when TB was 1st and goal inside the two yd. line. We stopped Alstott on 1st & 2nd down forcing the 3rd down throw, which save for luck would have been an incomplete pass forcing a FG atempt as opposed to a TD. During that drive our D was completely gashed.

It's typical Redskins luck. How often does that shit happen to other teams?!

We need to develop a decent front seven, and then by magic our secondary will look better. Quarterbacks have a knack for throwing interceptions and fumbling when they get sacked or there is a heavy pass rush. The most damning statistic in my mind is that opposing QBs have had a 104.7 QB rating against the Redskins this season, that metric speaks volumes, it says we have no pass rush.

Since we have made the switch to Campbell I think it is time to see what Rocky can do on the D. We have to evaluate our young talent and figure out who is going to be on this team.

Sorry. Goldston, even though he is a rookie has shown me nothing. What is his strenghts? He can't stop the run. I have watched him get moved out of position on run downs time and time again. And he gets no push on pass plays. So to me he is a back-up at best.

But he did, for the first time, direct criticism at the D. I think the players are underperforming, but that was a way of crticizing Williams. And Williams clearly has large input on specific player moves--AA is his guy, and my guess is the reast are too. One bifg thing Gibbs said--and I completely agree--is that the D DID NOT GET THE BALL ENOUGH FOR THE OFFENSE. They didn't have enough plays. Long drive after long drive. If Campbell gets 10 or so more plays, we win, IMO. If you can't get on the field, you can't get a rhythm, and that's what Saunders offense thrives on. Of course, then they have to be able to run the ball--so the o-line has to get its head out of its ass and block, and Betts needs to hit the hole and hold on to the ball, or sit down. (I say start Duckett now, but we'll see...).
Amen.

I find it so interesting that when Gibbs offense blows "Players just need to execute." Then we move to someone who doesn't have immunity and all of a sudden the coaching sucks and players are fine...

golston is nice for a 6th round pick, but he shouldn't be starting. the fact that he is just speaks to our lack of DL talent.

Right there with you TMC. I've been feeling that way since opening night. It's like they let them dive into their territory, and you are like "ok, lets just try to keep them our of FG range". Then they get inside the red zone and it's "well, they are gonna get 3, but let's keep em out of the endzone". Then they score. And you look up at the clock and 7 minutes are gone. It's really the worst defensive scheme ever. Just blitz the house. If unsuccessful, they score off a big play, and you save 5 minutes for the offense to work with. If successful, you create pressure and maybe turnovers.

And having Carlos Rogers 6 yards off on third and 3 is completely assinine. So what if he gets beat deep. At least force the QB to make a good throw! This is the kind of thing I talk about when I say he's trying to be the best D. Sure if you roll Rogers up into press, he's gonna get beat deep sometimes. If you don't, he get's beat short ALL the time. That shouldn't even be a decision but we are making the wrong one.

Nobody dares run up the middle on us on short yardage. Take advantage of that. Get the LB's wider so they can defend the short pass. Do SOMETHING to improve us.
