				PFW's Top 10 Free Agents 2006

Some interesting names here: 1. DE Dwight Freeney (Colts): likely to be franchised 2. OLB Lance Briggs (Bears): Bears are usually a frugal bunch, likely to walk 3. TE Tony Gonzalez (Chiefs): likely to void his final 2 years and walk 4. OG Eric Steinbach (Bengals): versatile lineman figures to get paid top $$ 5. DE Justin Smith (Bengals): solid all around player could get franchised 6. DE Charles Grant (Saints): Saints won't overpay for him, he could walk 7. DE Patrick Kerney (Falcons): high motor/character guy but is injury prone 8. OG Kris Dielman (Chargers): tenacious lineman looking for a big pay raise 9. CB Nate Clements (Bills): inconsistent but physical corner 10. LB Adalius Thomas (Ravens): versatile tweener, very athletic |

How good would it be to see Freeney line up in Redskin colours? Fat chance but we can dream. I think a top fllight DE like him could improve the play of Andre Carter greatly.

Freeney is having a so-so year. And for some reason I've always thought that he (Freeney) indirectly benefited from Indy's passing game, as oddly as that may sound. Last year Indy's offense was much more higher pace, if you will, than this year's version..and the opposing offense's were often forced to keep pace...which in turn were more suited to Freeney's strengths. This is one guy I wouldn't break the bank for. |

If we sign a "big name" guy anywhere, it NEEDS to be across the defensive line. I'm all about consistancy this offseason and keeping the group we got. I dont want to see any new DT's because I think Griffin is still a heck of a player and I think we should establish the rookies. At DE however, I wouldnt mind brining someone in.

I would go for pretty much any of those DE's, with the exception maybe of Karney. I wouldn't be opposed to Clements either, as Rogers is trying his best to show everyone he has no business being a starter in the NFL. Shoring up the D-line and getting a decent pass rusher would be a big help to the defense I think.

What about Simeon Rice? The Bucs are probably going to let him go at the end of this year. Do you guys think this year was just an off year, or that he's on the downward slope of his career?

Freeney is really undersized. He benefits from the colts always being up 14+ points on teams. Rice is solid, but older. I would settle for some young, hungry guys with a chip on their shoulder. |

He only has a couple more years left in him. I'd rather see us go after someone younger with more upside.

The only two I like are Clements and Briggs. They would both fill huge voids and would allow us to use that high draft choice on Gaines Adams or Alan Branch, now that would definately improve this D. We need to look for some safety help this offseason, or atleast see what Reed Doughty is capable of.

GREAT IDEA! Its been said before but, conistency is key and thats why we have sucked forever. We cant wait anything out. I hate to say it but, look at Marty Shottenheimer. Not saying that I dont like Joe Gibbs in there more than Marty cuz thats a no-brainer, but you get the picture. Stick with what we have and make that shit work. Make a few moves...maybe clements so he can mix with Vincent and Taylor and maybe a agressive, loud mouthed dickhead of a shutdown corner. Im sure there are a few somewhere we could dig up for pretty cheap. Then, after all that, MAYBE Adam Archuleta will learn to tie his shoes.... thanks, you douchebag. End.

Yes we have some holes that need filled i just dont see another free agent spending spree as the answer....everytime the skins go nuts in the offseason and aquire a bunch of new players it seems as though it all goes south fast. SEE 2000 SEASON AND 2006 SEASON for the results of such idiotic spending.

Like it or not the Skins are likely to be aggressive again in free agency. With the way they trade away draft picks they really don't have a choice now. | |
