Re: No one should go...
It's funny how the thread that makes the most sense gets the fewest posts.

Re: No one should go...
Mr. Gibbs needs to do some serious evaluating before next season and he needs to change something because he hasn't been getting it done, but I definetly agree..we need to keep Joe, Greg, and Al. If we keep Al there's no reason our offense shouldn't improve greatly and it's certain we will be focused on improving our Defense. Nonetheless, i'm tired of being patient and the whole "there's always next year" mentality, damnit.

Re: No one should go...
There are definitely some players on the roster that it wouldn't hurt the team to cut. However, we should really be focusing on depth. We did what turned out to be a great job backing up CP at running back. We need to get a decent backup for JC, along with some help for the O-line and secondary. Ideally we would do the latter two through the draft, but...

Re: No one should go...
I dont think Gibbs should go because this teams needs some kind of continuity that it does not have and firing Gibbs work help in that department. Any talk that Gibbs should stay because he won 3 super bowls is foolish. The last one was almost 15 years ago. Thats ancient history.
I do have a feeling that somebody will be made the scapegoat for this year and I think it will be Williams. I dont think it should be done but I have a feeling it will. |

I guess I'll make my way over to the 'make sense' thread. I could see Gregg Williams and Steve Jackson going...and then Blache and a few lieutenants taking over. |

Re: No one should go...
Are they really knee jerk reactions when people have been saying the same thing after all 8 of our loses?

Wanting everyone fired and/or cut is knee-jerk and ridiculous.

Re: No one should go...
I don't think many people honestly want everyone fired, and I would agree with you that doing that would be a knee jerk reaction. But if each loss seems to be for similiar reasons and people are calling for a change regarding those reasons, then I think they're right.

But, this reasoning is flawed because Joe Gibbs wasn't making the throws, running the ball, catching the TDs and shutting down offenses when we won three Super Bowls. Yet, he is the person most closely tied to those championships. So, Gibbs is as responsible for our dismal season as much as anyone else is. You can't simply say, "He's not on the field missing plays."

Re: No one should go...
I agree, no wholesale changes. Keep Gibbs, he will turn this thing around. Some of the free agents he brought in haven't worked out (most have) but you can't argue with his draft picks. Keep Saunders, his offensive scheme has proven to work in the past. The players just need to learn it and be in it for more than a year. I believe Gibbs brought in Saunders so he could be his successor when Gibbs decides to hang it up in a couple years. Keep GW, but fix the pass rush and secondary. Greg Blache will end up taking over as the DC when GW leaves, at least that will leave us some continuity on that side of the ball. This year has been hard to watch, but I believe we are on the right track and it will be proven next year.

Re: No one should go...
I think we should keep the team together. Yeah the D went downhill but don't throw it all away now. The offense, we HAVE to let Saunders come back next year. If you fire him then it's like you really had no plan at all, besides it's good for Jason's development. Keep your wideouts, however, I feel they need to go and get a big wide receiver. Someone about 6'3 or so. A big possesion guy. I know we're thinking Lloyd is tall, no he isn't ! I mean like TO/Chad Johnson big. Find a DE to go along with Carter, a young guy that can be groomed into the system. Find either a MLB to replace Marshall (so he can move back to the outside) or find a better OLB if McIntosh isn't the answer. Maybe we'll find out in the coming weeks how well he can play. Let's keep the squad together and see what needs to be fixed and work it out. Get in to Training Camp earlier than this year. And when I say Training Camp I mean TRAINING CAMP NOT SUMMER CAMP ! Joe Gibbs himself said that he didn't go as hard as they usually do, F THAT ! Get out there and get these guys in shape. I don't care what kind of shape they come in, have a regimen in place to get your guys in the best shape that they can get in.
The players and the coaches have to get that killer mentality back into them. HAIL TO THE REDSKINS !!!!! Let's bring 'em back and win again !!!!!
