Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
We gotta stop relying so much on Sean "I'm injured more than healthy" springs. We also desperately need a runstopping linebacker and DT.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
HEY!!!!!!!!!!
STOP THE FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Redskins are officialling in a rebuilding mode. Stop trying to pass around blame for the situation they are in. The question that needs to be asked, "Do you feel that the present organization is capable of turning around the team with the present personel?" If you feel this organization cannot right the ship, then some personel changes need to be made. Either fire some coaches or players or both. I caution going after the quick fix. I think the reason the Redskins are in the situation they are in now is because for the past 10 years, they have been seeking the quick fix. I think the Skins need to stick with one system for a while and let it work its way out. Stop changing. Be patient. Give Gibbs and company the benefit of the doubt and let them do there jobs and get this team back into playoff contention.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
That would make more sense; from the upper deck we thought he was trying to tell him to kill the clock and Campbell just looked confused. Either way though, with the exception of the timely blocked punt (how the hell did the punter make the damn tackle!) the last 6 minutes of the game were down right embarassing. The team looked like a bunch of Pop Warner kids trying to run a 2 minute drill. Hopefully Campbell will vastly improve on that based on how bad the game ended, hopefully he learns from his failures.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
first of all, i wish i knew what the "Gibbs philosophy" was! second, saying the 2005 steelers offense is based on anything the redskins do is absurd. i am a redskins fan living in pittsburgh. i don't see any similarities from what Gibbs philosophy is (whatever that may be) and the 2005 pittsburgh steelers! and if you want to try, we can argue this one all day long!

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Keys to winning in the NFL:
1. Stop the run 2. Run the ball 3. Don't turn the ball over 4. Force turnovers That isn't anything new. That philosophy has and will work forever. Sure, the NFL has changed but the keys to winning haven't.

But John Madden would remind you that the real key to winning a game is outscoring your opponent.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Yesterday we ran the crap outta the ball............We lost by 10 points. There are many more factors than people believe. Chiefs always run for over 150 yards but they have 5 losses........anyone noticing these things?

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
Didn't you just post that you were from Pittsburg? And you still say that if you can't throw you aren't going to win? Any "knowledgeable fan" knows that a strong running game sets up the passing game. Reel them in and let it fly. There are a few systems that emphasize passing to setup the run but I can only think of Detroit, Philly and I guess the Patriots right now.

true, T/O ratio is one of the most important keys to winning. but running the ball certain is not! being balanced enough to take advantage of opponents weaknesses is a must in today's NFL, i.e. the New England Patriots. It's not about establishing "Redskins" smash mouth football. See last year's Steelers. They made it to the Super Bowl by THROWING THE FOOTBALL and taking what was given to them. |

I am from Virginia. I moved to Pittsburgh exactly 1 year ago today. And if you knew anything about the NFL, you would know that the Steelers were not a "running team" last year! All 3 AFC playoff games were won with the passing game... not set up by the run, but by adjusting to the other team's defense. The NFL is more of a chess match today than ever! When you play chess, you don't blindly make moves without trying to figure out your opponent... unless you're the redskins. You could get away with that in the 80's and early 90's. TV, computers, technology, NFL popularity, smarter coaches, smarter players, etc have all made the game different from what it used to be. |

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
You don't need to have any sort of running game to win, IMO, assuming you can throw the ball to any part of the field. If you can't use the entire field in the passing game, then you need the compliment run game.
A running game makes the passers' job much easier...but ultimately you have to make the throws or you lose.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I agree you have to be able to throw to win in todays nfl. Yes, Pittsburgh has a running physical style of play but many occasions they will come out throwing to set up the run (last year). If you only run the ball defenses are going to stack the line against you (see last year).
