First of all, I'm 34 and I remember very well all of those SuperBowl teams of the 80s. I remember very well the first SB title in 83 and the last one in 92. Is Gibbs the same great top NFL coach today that he was then? No, he isn't and no one should feel ashamed to admit that. He is indeed a different coach today. Coaches as well as players can decline in their abilities. Is Gibbs in my view completely done and now a bad coach? No way. As evidenced last year he can still lead a team. Has he made some personnel and coaching mistakes and miscalculated some decisions? Sure, nothing wrong to admit that either.

What Gibbs being here the second time around offers in my opinion is not so much a replay of exactly what happened his first time around but it's bringing what this organization has needed so badly since he has left. Gibbs is for the first time bringing in values of hard work, battling through adversity, practicing, remaining together as a team and hard offseason work to these players. This organization and many of these players haven't had that in their entire careers and that includes many free agents as well. Think of the atmosphere and attitude that we had under Spurrier and Turner. Schottenheimer to an extent brought what Gibb's is bringing now but Snyder made the mistake of not letting him stay to finish the job.

The results are not apparent now but what I do feel that what Gibbs is bringing to this organization in his second stint is a cultural change that will eventually take root in both the players and the ownership.

Bottom line is that this organization right now, these players need the stability and values that Gibbs implements. We have a coach unlike Spurrier and to an extent unlike Turner and Schottenheimer who deeply cares about the fan base, the organization and the town and not just getting paid. He has an attachment to this city that no other coach out there will ever have.

I firmly believe despite his mistakes that in letting Gibbs finish his contract that when he leaves as coach and either retires from football or goes to the front office that this organization will be better off from the players to the owner (who I think today is a better owner and person than before Gibbs came back). We may not reach a SB title but I do believe that the culture and course of the Redskins will change for the better in the future with him here for the duration.

I would argue that Gibbs isn't any worse of a coach persay, but I think there are a lot more quality coaches in the NFL today than there were during his first stint. So in turn, he is not the league's best coach anymore and he gets outcoached sometimes.

I totally agree. He got out coached on all but two games this year.

Bottomline Gibbs is a winner always has been, always will be. He has always surronded himself around very talented people in everything he does. I can see next year being a playoff run followed by the next challenging for home field advantage. I think one of 2 things could happen after his contract expires 1. coaching another 2 years or 2. Just staying in the front office and making sure his vision is comlpete. I dont think he will go back to Nascar so quick. His son JD is doing a very good job there. I still cant beleive that he came back.
