Re: Next years CASH!!!!

Amazing what a year does to you.
Last year we were all saying, "Damn, these free agents really paid off, good job front office!" This year, even though we have had more key injuries than ANY team in football, we are saying "free agents don't work" because we're 4-8.
Brunell was a problem, he's been benched. Campbell is learning.
We have holes in the CB areas because Rogers and more importantly, Springs have been injured most of the season.
Had we gotten a ket free agent CB in the offseason and allowed Campbell to be the man from day 1, I bet we'd be sitting at around .500. Yes, 6-6! Even with all the injuries! It's only as bleak as it is because of a couple problems, and alot of injuries. Our bad luck should be all gone and we'll start next season fresh and ready to kick ass.

I here what you're saying but this isn't a reaction to this year alone. Its a reaction to what has gone on since the end of Gibbs part I and intensified with the Snyder years. We used to get key veterans back in Gibbs I with Plan B free agency and trades. This was a new way to get good players and it worked it gave us an advantage. Gibbs always preferred vets, and character guys. I think Danny like many of us enjoyed the successes with that philosophy but this isn't the model for success anymore.

We have become very one dimensional and hurried in how we manage our personnel. I am not anti free agency but I think we do too much of it every year and overspend. We also do this at the cost of draft picks and don't draft with depth. Our idea is that we have to win yesterday and its destructive. We have stuck to this for so long and it has provided us with a whole lot of grief with big money busts, attitudes, injury riddled has beens, and the like. I really like alot of the players we have. Some that came through free agency and some that haven't. I just think the teams who have been champions in this millenium have won with a recipe other than free agency first.

The above is the best assessment of the situation I've seen. Throw in the discontent, finger-pointing, and criticism coming from both sides, and you have a picture of the current B&G offering on the field.
