Re: F.... Night School

Let me tell you a tale... When I was in high school, I transferred my senior year to a crowded school. Because it was so crowded, the work-leave program was full before the year began -- before I even transferred. So, I basically had no chance to get into the program. Because it was my senior year, I only needed a few credits and the rest of my schedule was filled with junk credits that I didn't need. This really sucked, because if I was in the work-leave program I wouldn't have to be in those classes, and I could just leave school mid-day. Since it was stupid to be taking unnecessary credits, my dad asked me to setup an appointment for him to speak with my asst. principal. When I talked to her about an appointment, she tried to avoid it in every way. She told me to have him call her. So, I told my dad that she wanted to talk on the phone. He said that was unacceptable -- he wanted to meet in person. After I told her that he wanted to meet in person, she fixed everything (without ever meeting or speaking to my dad). She created an entirely new class, just for me. I was the ONLY person in the class, and we met in the teacher's office. It was the teacher's break period, and I just did work from my other classes and helped her with her computer -- and because teachers got paid per class, she was basically getting paid to take her break. Talk about a win-win situation! I never had to do a single piece of the required work that was associated with the work-leave class (i.e.: timesheets, watching dumb videos, essays, etc.). All of this just so my asst. principal could avoid a confrontation with my dad! I'm still laughing about this one! ![]()

@Buster: prince william county has every possible means to get a student to pass. I had to take summer school after the end of last year to pass geometry, and that was fargin hell too. summer school, night school, stay after school, they will try to get you to pass any way possible. shit, you could probably take night school in the summer if you wanted to. @dallas-blows: not when it starts at 5 in the afternoon and ends at 8:30. That gives me like 3 hours to chill after school ends before i'm back in it. I'd rather have it start at like 8 and end at 11:30. |

I transferred from Texas to Florida. Texas education = pretty good, Florida education = pretty bad. That probably wouldn't have worked anywhere else but Florida. A class for one person, with no curriculum? Only in Florida. ![]()

Re: F.... Night School
Night School double sucks when you have to work during the day. You doze off every 6 seconds, and the "I have to do this, I need a good grade" voice inside you keeps you moving foward. Sucks so bad, but you gotta do it.
Good luck Mooby. Little word of advice, be interested. Even if you have to fake it. Ask the teacher questions. Stay after class and talk to them about something they like. When they see you interested, and see you trying to do good, they'll go out of their way to help you. Your nose should be brown. Once again good luck!
