I seem to recall Snyder come real close to bringing back Beathard at one point but the deal was broken at the last second when Snyder refused to give up final say on all personnel matters. If that's true that says it all right there.

I may be wrong on this but I think that, in the Gibbs/Beathard era, JKC had final say over all personnel matters - not Beathard. I seem to recall both Gibbs and Beathard saying that they discussed what were the needs and then discussed who to get to fill those needs. If they couldn't agree, they would go to Cooke and HE would have final say.

True. JoeRedskin, do you ever find it ironic that when Gibbs returned a lot of us (myself included) thought "wow, what a great move. He can do no wrong." And clearly results have not matched our expectations, yet no one entertains the possibility that if Beathard came back he might struggle as well? I'm not saying that would be the case but why is it that suddenly Beathard is a foolproof savior? And here's another question, if Snyder and Gibbs said "Well we got a General Manager, allow me to introduce to you...Matt Millen," would people say "Yay, finally a GM?" even though it's Matt Millen? Chew on that Joe

Chewed, digested and puked. I don't know why Bobby "Hey, let's trade all our draft picks for Ryan Leaf" Beathard wouldn't struggle any less than Joe (BTW - Just demonstrating a point with the Leaf reference, BB was a great GM back in the day).

If JG says, I pulling in "Scott Pioli, Tom Donahoe and giving them first shot at picking players" or someone of a similar caliber, hey I am all for that! Otherwise, we aren't fixing the problem just adding a new "Millenesque" layer that would further muck up an already mucked up talent evaluation process.
