That's the optimal situation. I think he's under contract which might command some kind of trade.

He lost his starting job this year so he could be cut.

Ryan Clark isn't the answer either. Who was saying a word about him last year? Everyone wants to say he was awesome b/c the washingtonpost claims he was Taylor's only friend on the team. This is the NFL, if Taylor's play is impacted dramtically by having a friend on the team we're in trouble. Clark is a back up at best. We don't need to bring him back at all.

You know why Taylor had a sub-par year for his standards? NO SACKS UP FRONT!!!!! How many times did you see him chasing a running back who wasa not touched by a D lineman or LB????

We don't need to draft a safety, we're fine at that position.

Well its not like he would go for anymore than a late round pick, and I'm fine trading a 6th or 7th away for Clark.

If Clark is let go by the Steelers, could there be a bigger no-brainer in the world?

Bottom line: he worked well with ST, they communicated well, and they got results. He knows how we do things. F Ken Hamlin, F drafting somebody, F paying anybody a lot of money... if Clark is available, he should be our #1 target, hands down.

A no-brainer for whom? Don't forget, this is the Redskin front office you're talking about.

If he's actually cut after just one year in Pittsburgh how much leverage would he really have on the market? The Redskins could probably get him back for not much more than they last offered him.

Personally, I think he stays in Pitt

I'm not throughly convinced the team was wrong about letting Clark depart. He had a good year for us in 05, but he was just one part of an overall pretty good defense. I have never felt we were wrong for not keeping him, because had they really wanted too, they would have. The way our defense played this year, I don't know that he would have made that much of a difference. He did loose his starting job with the Steelers, so I'm more concerned with the production of a player over a period of time, as opposed to one fairly good year.

I agree. Just because giving Archuleta a big contract was a huge mistake, does not mean that letting Clark walk was also a mistake.

Also, I think the smart money would be on Archuleta rebounding, not Clark.

Yeah, I think you're right. We lost in '06 because of the D-line. No penetration from Griff or the Samoan. No pass rush from Daniels or Carter. The line just got run over, plain and simple. Apart from pass coverage, Ryan Clark wouldn't have prevented us from getting trampled by opposing rushing attacks.
