yeah, I think good agents would do that as they should know the mkt. That's our problem w/Dock, his agent knows there's only a few guys he's competing with in FA & most teams have lots of $$. Peter King is predicting the top 2 guards, Steinbach & Dielman I believe, are looking for S. Hutchinson $, 7mil /yr w/15 bonus if I remember correctly.

No way they will get close to Hutchinson money IMO. Hutchinson outclasses the guard field and was a special case. Those other guards might be looking for that kind of payday, but they won't get it. I honestly think the guard position might be the easiest position in the NFL. I'm not saying the elite ones don't deserve mucho money, but if Derrick Dockery thinks he is going to get some massive 30 million dollar contract he is crazy.

I actually think we are going to see ridiculous deals being struck. As noted previously, teams have more cap space to spend on fewer quality free agents since the start of free agency. Whereas in the past, a lot of teams couldn't engage in bidding wars over top-notch FAs due to cap considerations, now there are going to be numerous bidders on the good FAs. The bidding wars might get ridiculous, with teams front-loading deals to use their current cap space and limit the impact of big signings on future cap figures.

True. And things won't improve next year b/c the cap is scheduled for a significant increase.

It's going to be pretty hard for the FA market to deliver us anything next year.

Our investments this year must be ones that put the team in good hands for the future.

True, but at some point the market is going to catch up to the cap increases and you won't see an abundance of teams with $30M in space.
