Dock Offered 3 Yrs 12 Million

Most overpayed is a bit rough. He's a young offensive guard that's shown improvement every year he's played. Of course there are some questions about him, and he got a massive contract, but the most overpayed in the league is a bit overboard.

Bills Signed Dock to a 7 year deal for $49 million. 23 Million guaranteed over the first 3 years??!!

They also signed Nate Clements to a 8 year deal worth 80 million?????

Oh, don't get me wrong, Hog1. I'm glad we didn't pay that price as much as I wanted to keep Dock. I just don't think he's the most overpayed player in the league by a large stretch.

here are a couple of thing that piss me off about this whole Dockery thing : 1) the "FRONT OFFICE" should have locked him up during last year, or in the offseason before he had a chance to even look at other teams offers. They knew he was a FA, but dragged ass during the season.
2) Now, Dockery is not worth 16 million upfront, but 3 yr 12 million is a bit of insult. This organization has a reputation of low balling players, Smoot, pierce, now Dockery. Kills me how you give 10million bonuses out like candy, but low ball people on your team. they just gave a 32 yr old LB 10 million up front, but can give Dock something that is fair. Now, what dock signed for is ending up to be less than what the other O-lineman are signing for. I can't believe they were intertaining the idea of signing Davis if they were not going to give Dockery that money. He ended up signing for more than Dockery. And I dont believe they weren't interested in signing him as the post would spin it today. BS! he wouldn't have been here, plus he said I have to decide on who I want to play for, so the contract offer was all ready there.
3) the O-line was our only bright spot on the team last year. Now we have to fill a hole, a big hole. Again, dock isn't worth the 16 up front, but dont you think if we had tried like crazy during the season last year, early last year, we could have gotten him signed before all this took place. I certainly do. They better work something out w/ Cooley and Taylor before they are in the same situation. I have a feeling Taylor will be the highest paid safety in NFL history and nothing less will keep him.
we can thank our "front office" for what its going to cost us to keep him. remember Mr. Arch being made the highest safety in the league. do you think Rosenhouse didn't lick his chops when that deal was signed.

Could you please give your links to what you have stated like they are facts.
1. How do you know that we did not try and sign him durn the year? Link
2. How do you know as a fact that we only offered him 12mil 3yrs? Link that knows this for a fact and not just a rumor.

The reason I say this is your jumping all over the front office for things that you have know idea are true or not and I see this all the time here on this site. We need to wait to hear the facts before we come to any conclusions.

I do not recall any articles or posts that suggested we attempted to sign him during the season, I could be wrong.

I wasn't the one who suggested the 3 yrs 12 million. I have never really seen what our offer was. I went along with what was posted here. but I read something someone said that the 12 million may have been the guaranteed amount over the first 3 years, which makes more sense.

as far jumping on the front office, why not?! Our front office has been less than spectacular over the last several years. They deserve to be critisized for some of the moves they have made recently. The front office are the ones making the calls on who we sign and dont sign, and who we overpay, and who we try to lowball. Who else would be held accountable?
(front office = Gibbs, Williams, Saunders, Danny, Vinny) they all make the decisions, so no one is above the backlash.

And for those who want to blame the front office for not locking him up prior to free agency, has it ever occurred to you that perhaps Dockery wasn't interested in being locked up?

I don't understand the backlash for not re-signing a guy who wasn't even our best lineman, and that outlandish contract should squash any doubts as to whether or not we did the right thing.

One thing is for sure....L.Davis getting more then all of the guards this week from the Cowboys is a joke!!! But Davis is getting the last laught!!! Great stuff!!! Can't wait to see what a holder going to get some day!!!

I have said, his contract was too much, no doubt. What I am saying is, if we would have approached this earlier we could have done something prior to him being on the market. He contended he wanted to stay here, the rest of his teammates wanted him here. He would have been a fool to walk away from what the bills offered. But I just think we should have sured up the O-line. I dont get not resigning him because he wasn't our best lineman? our offensive line was the only thing that was good!! it was dominant in fact!! and all 5 of them contributed. I dont care if he was the best or 5 best. the fact is THAT oline created running lanes trucks could drive through and only yielded 19 sacks. 3rd best. If you have something that good, why not try and keep it together. that is all I am saying about it.

you saw what happened when you let pieces of the puzzle go on D. from 9th to 31st, now we are having to pay crap loads of money to shore up that side of the ball again. I just have a feeling the oline will not perform as good as it did last year.

I guarantee you that his agent advised him to hold out for free agency.

Just look at what Hutchinson got last year, the bar for guards was set very high and with the cap going up it this year it made complete sense for Dockery to test free agency.

Blame him, not the front office. He wanted to get paid and he got his wish. He's gone, move on.

I agree for the most part - his agent earned his money by running the #s & doing due diligence on the market. I hope you're right Matty that the 3 yr. offer was incorrect, it doesn't sound like a Skins deal at all.
