You need penetration up front FIRST. We didn't have that, and Golston, who everybody just raves about is part of the line that got us a #27 ranking against the run last year.
I feel where u are coming from here. However, I could flip the question right around and ask what will happen when teams begin to throw on us? Point is, both parts of our defense were equally bad.

I know football is won in the trenches, but one can't always draft out of need in the first round. It helps to draft for need, but it doesnt always pan out. Just like a DE/DT can help out on both fronts, so can a FS. Either one of our picks could help or hurt us next year. I just choose to go with the more effecient player - Laron Landry.

But when we do draft a d lineman, I hope it is Amobi Okoye. I wouldnt be mad with that. We still need a FS tho.

I hope the skins work some magic out, cuz we have a lot of holes to plug with only one cog to fill it in the first round/day of the draft.

If we still cannot stop the run, then LaRon "Sure Thing" Landry will be forced to come up to the line for run support, then opposing O-coordinators will take note of this and kill us with play action. So then we're right back in the same position you say we were in last year -- we get nailed with the pass.

Oddly enough, we were actually BETTER against the pass last year than we were against the run. Don't get me wrong, it was bad all around on defense. But we have made upgrades in the secondary, while we have done nothing so far on the D-line. We saw what Griffin, Salave'a, Golston and Montgomery did for us against the run last year. Those same guys, who are all a year older will give us exactly the same results, or worse. And Landry, Alvin Walton or Ronnie Lott wouldn't make the slightest difference if nothing changes up front.
