Re: The Last Briggs Thread? Bears Say No Deal
THANK GOD!!! This was a bad deal for us from the start. Im really looking forward to seeing what Rocky can do with some extensive playing time. Besides we are in prime position to deal down and pick up more day 1 picks if one of the top prospects slips to 6.

Re: The Last Briggs Thread? Bears Say No Deal
I would be astonished if we actually showed restraint and didn't end up pulling the trigger on this deal somehow. I can't think of another example of us trying to do a deal and not getting it done because we couldn't meet up on terms. We always end up bendng a little more and making the deal happen.

I wouldn't put too much stock in any of this nonsense. Trade up, trade down, keep the pick...no one knows what they are really thinking, and they shouldn't know until we're on the clock. Personally I think that is best. |

I could see this being a draft day deal as we get more desperate, but theres also an outside chance that Rosenhaus and the Bears work out their differences and get Briggs to sign the tender under an agreement to not tag him next year sometime between now and the draft. This trade is hardly dead, but it's good to see the chances of it happening are going down.

Re: The Last Briggs Thread? Bears Say No Deal
WashingtonPost.com has said that we said no to the counter offer
-"The Washington Redskins' proposed trade for Chicago linebacker Lance Briggs stalled today when the team rejected the Bears' counteroffer, according to sources involved in the negotiations" Good news b/c later on it says they asked for Rocky McIntosh heres the link http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...040301321.html |

After reading that article it appears doubtful that this will be the last Briggs thread. It says that with 25 days till the draft more talks are likely. I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL APRIL 28TH!!!

Re: The Last Briggs Thread? Bears Say No Deal
I don't like the fact that we actively pursued Briggs, even though he would've upgraded the LB corps which I think it was fine anyway. I do like the fact that the Skins kept a hard line on the deal and didn't do what was expected of them and that was to give up everything for Briggs. They stuck with we'll give you our first rounder and you give us Briggs and your first rounder and NO you can't have anything else. Just like the Denver deals, once they asked for more then the Skins said No give us what we want and this is all that you can have.
