I think the Bears have become more desperate though, I think they were expecting to be able to unload Briggs to somebody well before this Saturday, but they haven't been able to. Now in the final hour, their choice is to take the best deal they can get for him, or have him sit out 10 games of the year as he's threatened to do. For once, the other team is the one with their backs against the wall in a trade negotiation.

JLC seems to hint that the Skins could be trying to extract another pick.

According to one league source, the Bears could settle for Washington's original offer prior to Saturday should no better deal come along. The Redskins could in turn request additional compensation for their first-round draft choice.
